On my beloved PR disaster’s latest comments. I’m not going to even touch his mentions about his posh privilege because it’s been done to death, especially on ONTD. 

Tumblr seems to be stuck on the “punched well above his weight” comment, so let’s focus on that shall we? It’s assumed that this means that he’s been laid tons more times than ever before this year. And that might be right! But how much is that anyway?

Here’s a refresher on the little we know about Benedict’s love life:

-Benedict was with Olivia Poulet for TWELVE YEARS. Assuming he broke up with her when he was around 34, that would mean that he started dating her when he was 22 years old.

-He’s said frequently that when he was a teenager he didn’t have much luck with the opposite sex. That might mean that Olivia was most likely one of his first girlfriends, and most definitely his first serious one.

-His half sister Tracy has said that she thinks his intellect can sometimes be a major turn-off for girls, and also says he’s never been quite successful in the romance department.

-Lord knows Benedict wants to settle down with the right woman and have kids. I’m not saying that he hasn’t had one-night stands every once in a while because he’s waiting for ~the one~ but come on, this is Benedict “broody” Cumberbatch we’re talking about here!

-He’s also one of the most hard working actors in showbiz right now, zipping from project to project. We also know that he almost obsessively prepares for his roles. I doubt that leaves much time for seeking out women.

Conclusion? Sure Benedict has probably gotten laid a lot more than he has in the past. Exactly how much is his own personal matter, and it’s ridiculous to speculate.

HOWEVER… I bet it’s not as much as some Cumberfans are thinking.

He might not have even meant it that way anyway! I guarantee you some other magazine’s going to question him on these comments and he’s going to have to explain it a ton like he did with the Downton Abbey thing.

also..just another point…sorry but WHY THE HELL IS EVERYONE HUNG UP ON THIS ONE LINE. XD;;; 

i mean seriously guys, i love him to bits, and i went “ooh” when i read that line…but then…that was it. i’m happy he’s getting more attention and somewhat enjoying it. but seriously. of all things, i think someone’s sex life isn’t something to get all hung up on. 

i’m just happy lil benny is being able to meet people X3 he always talks about how much he wants a family anyway.

“punched well above his weight” doesn’t that phrase, mean like he’s a bit bemused because he considers them way out of his league and it’s really new to him? And it’s staying secret, because, well, it’s just for him.  Does it mean the same thing in the US?

I’m glad, it’s nice for him, and he’s well aware it’s temporary, et c.
